The studio opened in 2018 with two rooms: a creative studio for strategy, direction, and design, and a photography production space. The rooms exist because design, digital, and photography have always overlapped in the work.

Alexander Sylte has worked in the industry since 1999, in roles from creative producer and art director through creative director, editor in chief, and head of digital. Websites and custom CMS builds have been part of that since 2002. Photography began with studies in the nineties and years spent commissioning and directing photographers from the art director's side, before moving to the centre of the work in 2013. Art direction and creative direction at the studio are built on design, digital, and photography together.

Clients typically have lean teams, strong instincts, and more output than capacity, and want the same standard wherever the work appears. Sylte Studios is often brought in when output is strong but inconsistent. The work is good, but it changes shape between campaigns, channels, and the people making it. The studio sets a clear standard, then builds the systems that hold it.

The studio is deliberately small. Alexander Sylte leads every engagement and takes on a limited number each year, so direction, editing, and delivery stay in the same hands. When scope calls for more, specialists across Europe join the work, with one senior lead throughout.

The process is structured and practical. Scope is defined before work starts, decisions are documented as they are made, and the work is handed over as something a team can run without the studio in the room.

Engagements run as projects, on retainer, or embedded inside a client's team, as brand director or e-commerce lead on contract.
